have network issue ? I gonna check on a VM.
2/ It's an issue in HawtIO and import range that it defines. I gonna
submit a patch to support Karaf 3.0.0.
3/ You can already upgrade yourself by updating the etc/jre.p

config:edit should do the trick straight forward using the ConfigAdmin
persistence. However, I don't see the persistence adapter call (I
remember that Christian did a change around that).
I gonna create a Jira about that and fix that for 3.0.1.

regarding ActiveMQ, you don't use the right URL. You have to use:
karaf@root()> feature:repo-add
