Same problems still exist in 7.3.3. Except now when I reopen a doc
with Writer, it LOOKS likeit'sin the right place,e but the cursor is
off. When I type an arrow, then it shows me where the cursor really
is.
Unacceptable bug. I'll be filing this one with theLO bugzilla.
Thanks.

I'm sure there's a lot of history behind why those two approaches
coexist, apparently independently.
An ancestor of LibreOffice is StarOffice from about 1997, which has
already a Gallery. So indeed, it has a long history.

Hi John,
thank you for your reply and the beautiful story about languages in
general and from your experience.
For me it becomes more and more mysterious.
To Writer:
Is somehow different for me, is it because of the version?
If I right click on the callout in the gallery and select

Thank you, Harald.

What investigation have you done? Why do you think the problem is with

Also, what is runcmd()?
Sorry, should have said it's a wrapper for perl's open3() (itself a
wrapper for system() )

Dear John,
first of all, thank you very much for your feedback.
This has led me to probe a little deeper into the theme.
Well I am not a developer but also just a user like you.
Therefore, as a user, you can only ever tell about experiences.

Thanks, Dave! That did the job nicely. It's easy to forget how many tools LO
offers. [For some (like the Gallery) I still have not figured out a use. ;-)]

How are the cells displaying the $ sign formatted? I’m guessing they use the
currency format. There’s probably a way to automatically select currency cells
and change the currency, but that’s outside my expertise. Failing that you
could simply edit the $ settings to use the £ symbol in the

I believe Harald was trying to give a more complete answer than the

Yes, forget the bitmap images in the Gallery Flowchart set, where the
name of the flowchart symbols have the name embedded in them and are
intended to be used in a different situation than you

There also seems to be another bug in Draw.
To be able to edit the text in a flow chart object, you must first
