(using PdfCreator for example) than installing other software like
LibreOffice. In many cases company policy prevent users to install
software not approved from the IT office...

local professional support is the better solution. Uninstalling MS
Office is not a good idea if you don't have tested all possible cases
that happen in your company... and users need training. Try to convert
.docx in .doc (older Office 2000/XP file format) and try to open .doc
