  I uninstalled openssl     And reinstalled the openssl-0.9.6-13.i386.rpm     But I still get the same message.       I looked for libcrypto.so.0.9.6 is needed libssl.so.0.9.6 is needed       and I added their path in the .bashrc file

  I am using mandrake 9.0 and the openssl is openssl-0.09.6g-1mdk       What OS/verison are you using? I think you might need openssl-0.9.6b-29.i386.rpm -  it worked for me on RH8..   Do a 'rpm -q openssl' to see if it's installed, if not then get it from www.rpmfind.net
