I am using kannel with an smpp smsc. Now when the smsc is sending me submit_sm_resp, it sends the message_id as "S375". However when the deliver_sm is being send, it only sends back "375". This way kannel is not able to register the message delivery since both message ids don't match. I checked

You can always make "chmod 666" to your device, but that's not a good idea securutywise speaking, since your device will be readable and writeable by _anybody_. The best approach IMHO is to create a group "modem" for example, make your user part of that group and then (as root): chown root.modem
