If you haven't already done it, enable selinux. If it's not causing the
issue, there's no reason to keep it disabled.

I'm using Fedora 37 on an Lenovo ThinkPad x230i with the following
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="net.ifnames=0 selinux=0 quiet acpi_backlight=vendor
thinkpad-acpi.brightness_enable=1"
This worked until kernel 6.0.18. With kernel 6.1.5 the applet loads
but doesn't work.
