Yeah, sorry - I meant to say 1.4 and no, you do not need to install
opennebula on your nodes. I would strongly suggest to use express install
though.

Slava,
Thank you. I am setting up 1.4. I understand about the need to set up
torage, virtualization, networking, users and ssh. I just needed to
confirm that I did not have to install opennebula, and from your answer,
I do not.
You mention V 1.6, as far as I can see the latest stable release is 1.
Are you setting up 2.0 or 1.6? You can actually use a slightly
modified "node-install.sh" script from 1.6 express install to install
2.0 nodes. But to answer your question - you need to set up your
storage, virtualization, networking, users, and password-less SSH.

Hello,
I am new to OpenNebula, and am still trying to set up my first cloud.
The documentation is not clear if I need to install the daemon on the
node or not. Am I correct in assuming that the only requirements are to
setup ssh access to the Node ?.
In other words, I do not need to install openn
Hi Jason,
Could you send your VM template?
If I'm guessing right, disk 1 wasn't created from an image in the

The error you are getting is because the onevm command can't find the

source image is because it wants
Hello,
Looking at the log files from your previous email looks like Java
library is sending both parameters (occixml and file) as files in the
post and the web server writes both parameters as temporary files. I

Hello,
The error you have is that you have not created a network called
"VNET". Check http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel1.4:vgg and
create a network with the desired name before submitting a VM.
Then there are several ways to configure the IP inside the VM, these are:

Hi Ravi,
You could check /var/log/vmware/hostd.log for additional hints.
I still haven't gotten one to work with an esxi hv.

Hello,
I am playing with latest checkout of ONE (branch one-2.0) and I found out
that my old images aren't working anymore (getting 'no bootable device' on
display). They were of type 'qcow2' which was no problem before (circa 3 weeks
ago). Anyway, I noticed that 'kvm' process does have 'format=
Has anybody gotten one to work with Elastichosts?
I installed one as per documentation manually to ensure everything is
ok. I followed the documentation to set up Elastichosts connectivity. I
tested that I can create vm's by using the elastichosts script alone.

Ravi,
Most likely your datastore is not accessible to VMWare

Hi Ricky and Christian,
You have to use the same URL that the one specified in the econe.conf file,
since the authorization method uses these values for building a "canonical
string".
If you have further questions do not hesitate to ask.

Hi Stephan,
We have implemented a new Image Repository for OpenNebula 2.0. Now the disk
section in the template looks like this:
DISK = [ IMAGE_ID = <%= erb_vm_info[:img_id] %> ]
There are some more changes in the template for the new version features.
For example you can specify user data to

There is no way to stop-modify-restart a VM. Anyway, check the new

Hello,
All cpu values are percents (number of cpus*100) except for CPU value
in VM templates. 800 total CPU value means that it has 8 CPUs.
VCPU value is supported in KVM. I you want a 2 cpu VM you will have to
specify this in the template:
--8<--
CPU=2
VCPU=2
-->8--

Hello,
Thank you for clarifying this and sorry for being misleading. I have
not tried Citrix Xen Server, just suposed it worked the same as its
Open Source counterpart.
Then the answer to the original question is no, OpenNebula does not

I want to run a Xen dom0 inside an installation of OpenNebula running

Hi Ricky,
What OpenNebula version are you using? If you are using ONE 1,4, remember
that you have to set the oneadmin account in the econe.conf file.
Hope this helps.
