I am a recent convert to Mac computers buying an iMac intel. I have
a Canon N650U scanner that I managed to get going using a Plustec
driver and Mac Image Capture. With this combo I have a range of
resolution settings but in OO word processor I get just 50 or 1200,
neither of which I wan
I use OO on an Intel iMac for all my spreadsheets and word processing
but would like to add an OCR app to go with it. Any suggestions,
preferably of open source and freeware?

I am a new Mac user. I have installed X11. I tried downloading Open
Office but all I got was the "Writer". That is to say when I open OO
from my Applications folder it opens directly to Writer and there is
nothing else available. The total download was about 130MB. Am I
not knowing somet
