[users] did i install open office properly

I accidently deleted microsoft word and i tried to down open office for windows xp if so how do I apply it ,access, it and use it to the best of my ability.What are the features?can i use a word type orogram . and did i have enough disc space to download 2.2. in the 1st place i kept getting mess
