Also, at least when I bought my last copy of MS Office (XP), back in
2002 or 2003 I think it was, the version that most closely resembles
OOo, was even more than $497. The version I am talking about had Word,
Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

the Base chapter of
the User Guide, here is a list of the existing database types you can
connect to: Adabas, JDBC, ODBC, dBase, ADO, Text, Spreadsheet.
I haven't done any work on this myself since I don't have any FMP
databases around any more but I hope it helps.
