When I attempt to copy text from an OOo document and insert it into a Gmail message, not only does the insertion fail (no matter whether I use keyboard or mouse instructions), but all OOo windows immediately disappear. If I then open OOo, I receive an invitation to reconstruct these windows. I am

Thanks Terry ! I use FF 2.0 (also in the version included with Ubuntu 6.10) as my browser. I have no problem whatever when pasting from one OpenOffice document to another ; I haven't had occasion to attempt pasting into another text editor Naive as I am, I had presumed that the version of OOo

Have a look at OOo's Setup Guide for starters. It may explain alien sufficiently. Otherwise, look in your distro's help resources (always fun). The distros have not mastered the art of making their operating systems workable for software, so they mess around with software to make it work wit
