I thought it seemed good to know /someone/ is looking at speech
recognition, but the list below doesn't exactly inspire confidence:

Virtually all of the speech recognition work is done by
organizations that want closed source, and everything
wrapped in patents. Couple that with the fact that most of
the RD is going into embedded
To Mike Scott: You have hit the nail on the head. I would not be
surprised if most of what is mentioned are dead in the water. What is
really needed is a Current list of viable voice dictation/os operation
programs in existence! :-(

To Jonathon: By then I will be to old to care! :-) :-D

To Fred Miller: My question is why don't someone do something about a
viable voice dictation/OS program if they really are concerned about
expanding the Linux base? I am tired of hearing that they cannot
make any money at it, since most distros are NOT free if bought in box
form!!! :o

To Users and Jonathon: Thanks for the information. Now the big question,
does any of them work as well as Dragon Naturally Speaking? Secondly,
you mention Via Voice must be installed before installing xvoice, do you
mean I should put a Windows based voice dictation into Linux and then
xvoice?

I have no idea. I don't use Voice Recognition tools.
made for Linux, and it would seem to be a contradiction in code to try
to put it into a Linux program???
Take a look at when those projects were active. I
“Open Office needs to worry less about duplicating features of Office
and more about “selling” itself as a viable piece of software in its own
right. “
