Hi Manali, This is to be expected. OpenOffice saves its files in compressed form. They are essentially a zip file containing several files: content, styles, layout, settings etc. I have seen a utility mentioned that will search these files for content. Possibly, someone else on the list will be

Hi, My guest is that your operating system cannot, our does not want to, search zip files. You can use several OOo search tools, like o3find at http://web.tiscali.it/fanelia/sw/o3find/. I use OOoFF (in french) at http://www.starxpert.fr/~fmanens/oooff/
