For clarity, I would rename the ListItems:
protected void populateItem(final ListItem assetItem) {
assetItem.add(new Label(...));
assetItem.add(new ListView(...) {
protected void populateItem(ListItem allocationItem) {
allocationItem.add(new Label(...));
}
}
