A little correction here...
It just won't work, you must have a working 32-bit development
environment on 64-bit hosts if you wish to build VirtualBox. There are
some 32-bit portions of the VMM that requires this, and it won't build,
much less run, without these.

- Guest / Host system
- Did you upgrade the Guest Additions from an older version? From which one?
- Please post unrecognized devices from the device manager (in the guest)

This issue is probably due to VBoxClient not starting up properly for
some reason. Can you try starting it manually from within your X
session? It is almost certainly not related to dkms.

I commented the vboxadd-xclient line and fired up startx. Once the
window manager was up, I started a xterm client and from within the
xclient I issued
