Good ady, friends!
Forgive me if I misunderstood something,
but how to use .qmail file for virtual users?
I wish do following:
i've got an account and want : deliver mail for this account, and forward to someone
else.
With clean qmail its looking like
./Maildir/
&someone.else

Here's the final word on the extent of my predicament. If I send mail to a
domain and user that was setup before my crash, I get the mail bounced back
saying "no user". I added a new domain and a couple of users to it and it
works fine on the new one. So, somethings corrupted or out of wack on
I am using the default ones created by vpopmail on install.
pw_name varchar(32)
pw_domain varchar(223)
pw_passwd varchar(255)
pw_uid int(11)
pw_gid int(11) NULL
pw_gecos varchar(255) NULL
pw_dir varchar(255) NULL
pw_shell varchar(255) NULL
pw_name pw_domain pw_passwd
I installed it basically like this BSD install
http://matt.simerson.net/computing/qmail/qmail.toaster1.5.shtml only on RH
Linux 7.1 with TWIG -- so no rpm.
I'm going to try adding some users and see if they'll work and maybe a
domain or two. I may try upgrading to the new release if that fails.
Are you using Bruce Guntner (?)'s qmail rpm's? I remember there was a cron
job or something like that that would clober one of the files needed by
vpopmail. I dunno, I'm trying to remeber the exact issue and it was about a
year ago now...
Doubt that helps any...

Thanks for the quick response. All the domains are listed in
controls/virtualdomains. users/assign appears fine. Each vdomain has a
.qmail-default file under it's domain in vpopmail. Anything else come to

In earlier versions of vpopmail, you could insert entries in the mysql table
and then e-mail that address for autocreation of userdirectories. This only
happens now when you pop the user or login through sqwebmail, which is nice.
The question is, has the autocreation of Maildir been removed when e
I don't believe this is a issue with the _. I do believe it is related to
the same problem I am encountering when I upgrade. Here it is.
Vpopmail will not authneticate virtual users. I get a "vpopmail user not
found [EMAIL PROTECTED]".
My configuration is as follows:
./configure --enable-mysql
I tried to replicate the problem you saw with
[EMAIL PROTECTED] on my machine.
I can't get it to break. And I tested with
the cdb and mysql modules
./vadddomain test.com test
./vadduser [EMAIL PROTECTED] test
telnet localhost 110
user [EMAIL PROTECTED]
pass test
Said okay.

If there is a "feature" that is hurting vpopmail alot in the mysql
implementation, is that it's still bouncing mail when it's unable to connect
to the mysql server (just saw this behaivour an hour ago with the 5pre3
release). will this ever be resolved ?
Alex.
Ken,
I have been reporting a problem for some time and have yet to get a version
that fixed it.
I have sent several mails. Has my issue been resolved?

I run a FreeBSD 4.3 system which allows the _ char in usernames.
Currently I use vpopmail 4.9.10 and it works fine. But, 5.0pre3
fails with a user not found:

Hi friends...
I have vpopmail+sqwebmail+qmail+mysql
How can create a warning quota message when the quota

Everything should be fine. At the very least, back up your current
binaries from ~vpopmail/bin. If you want to be very safe, make
sure you backup your ~vpopmail/domains directory, and if you use
a database, dump the database to disk just in case.

hi,
right now i am setting up a new qmail&vpopmail&sqwebamil box.
on inter7.com i found release 5.0 of vpopmail.
i am going to setup qmail 1.03, sqwebmail 3.00 and vpopmail 4.10.x.
may i use 5.0 instead 4.10.x of vpopmail in combination with the other
packages or will this be like playing with
With the amount of times I've installed newer versions of VPOPMail on top of
itself on a Production Server.
In my opinion it's pretty safe.
Just make sure you have the right database information set-up in advance.

hello,
i am running a qmail+vpopmail+sqwebmail box with lots of domains and
hundreds of vpopmail-users.
my question now is:
if i ever have to recompile and install my vpopmail package in order to
add additional functions configure offers, will this affect existing
vpopmail domaims & users ?

This means that you've enabled database storage, and that your
fields to store in the database, and what's being given to the
database are not matching up.

dear list,
today i downloaded and compiled vpopmail with romaing-users-support.
well, so far it works. but i do need quota-support as well, so i compiled
vpopmail again with both roaming users and quota support. i followed
the steps described in INSTALL exactly, but compilation always fails with

Using vqregister on one of my domains, constantly produces an error when

I was thinking about this last night.
Do you have your qmail-smtpd setup to do authentication?
If so, it might require your netscape to do smtp authentication.
