Are all .qmail-default rsynced?
Has been rcpthosts amd morercpthosts copied as well?
You can out a printf - out() - at the beginning of each case, and after the
rcpthosts checking, and see what's happening.

service under /service/ doesn't stay up more than 10 sec and restarts
