Hi Judy,The reason on why so many media servers is we want to avoid LAN based backup, 160TB-220TB per month is not really a great idea to be backed up via LAN.Regards--- On Wed, 5/20/09, judy_hinchcli...@administaff.com judy_hinchcli...@administaff.com> wrote:From: judy_hinchcli...@administaff.com
Hi all,
I'm getting prepared to take the 6.5 leap (from 6.0, so not that big of a
deal), but I'm wondering about UNIX database add-ons and release updates.
We're using the oracle agent, and I see that there is no 6.5.3 for the
Oracle agent, only 6.5.2. My understanding is that these add-ons
6.5.2 should be fine...
We're running it everywhere with 6.5.3 and 6.5.3.1 and things are
fine...

You use the 6.5.2 Oracle Agent, there is no 6.5.3 version as you noted, it
works fine.

The is no difference between the Eval version and the current version. Alway
install the latest. Adding a real license is done in the GUI probably under

Installing a new or same version will not destroy the configuration. Though

Have you considered the new SAN Client Option? You get the benefit of FC
speeds, but without the hassle of the Media server. The license is cheaper
than a Media server, I believe.

That's the latest release update for the Oracle agent, and i believe it
states that right there with the patch download link. Install the latest
patch level available for whatever option you have and you'll be good.

Daniel,
Open BackupExec 12.5 console.
Tool - Install Options and License Keys on this Media server ... you can
enter your key there.
There is a Backup Exec Forum in http://www.backupcentral.com/. You can get much
more resources there.
