We've got NBU 6.5.3 and VCB 1.5 running, and multiplexing works well for us.
You mention the storage unit is set to a max MPX of 2 - something to check if

I'm trying to utilize a Java GUI to manage a Windows 6.5.3 environment.
When the auth.conf file is present, and having proper name entries, I get
an error that the username is not listed. If I remove/rename the file, the
Java Console loads everything and seems just fine, as long as I'm using a

We use the Catalog backup policy that is standard with Netbackup.
We push backups to VTL, DSSU, FSU, and tape. We have requirements for offsite
as well as onsite storage.
My issue is that we could not get the media pools back upone recovery at

I ran set_ndmp_attr -verify on the Media Server and got proper responses. The
host supports NDMP v4 and supports LOCAL and 3-way backup/restore.
The NetApp does not have any locally-attached devices, so setu_ndmp_attr -probe

I am aware that with netbackup I can share a SCSI tape library with a master
and media server and that the server that can see the robot can manage the tape
mount requests.
Is it possible to use backup exec to do this? If i have 2 backup exec servers

What "device mapping files"? In all my years with Tru64, the only thing
I've had to do to use a new tape drive was do a SCSI bus scan (hwmgr -scan
scsi (v5) or scu scan edt (v4)). I'm only

what we backup (checked in BAR GUI):

Hi,
This is true for NBU 6.5 (I do not remember if it is an option for 6.0).
You can have more than one path to the drives and are working as
active/passive paths.
I do not know how netbackup choose the path to the tape for every backup but
it seems that it is random. I have seen it, one day to u
