a slightly different perspective on things - what are you looking to
have that Master-based script do ? DB interactions of some kind ? Reporting
?

Correct, backup_notify is not what I'm looking for because it runs when a
backup job completes, which backup_exit_notify is already doing quite
reliably on the Master server. Having something do the same, but
on my various Media servers, does not help. I was looking for a script to

*The backup_exit_notify script runs on the master server. It is called to
perform site-specific processing when an individual backup completes.*
But what I need is a backup_start_notify* *script that runs on the Master

Thanks Bob, good info.
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES is not a solution for me because these are Policies that
only backup a few specific file systems.
You are correct that 'bplist' can only tell me what I've backed up int the
past, not what I am about to backup. But I've decided that this is good
enough. A
a list it can’t back that up – it has to backup the actual
file as it is when it gets to it.

On the client, I have a need to generate a list of file systems to be backed
up by a particular Policy. There does not seem to be a way to do this from
the client.
Anyone know better?

Netbackup 6.5 UNIX: If large file is being backed up, and it is modified

that file: From the file as it looked when the backup started, or when the

Need to run a script on the Master server when each backup job starts.
I tried parent_start_notify and found that it only runs for policies that
have Allow Multiple Data Streams checked.
It seems to me that there should be some script that can be run reliably on
the master every time a backup
