I am now looking at VMware Integration with vSphere 4.x and NBU 7.5.0.4.
So far tests have gone well, but I got a quick question regarding RDM's.
Essentially, I have over 1000 VM's with a mix of RDM's and no RDM's.
Question: Is there any easy method in
to an external sql server?

Anyone out there using NetBackup dedupe appliances (5000, 5020) in a
multiple node configuration having any problems where a content router node
seems to just hang and require power-cycling? I have a NetBackup 5000
appliance at one location at version 1.4.1.1 that for some reason just
hangs. It
It can be pinged, but console access is locked up, and ssh is
similarly non-responsive. After the node is power-cycled, the storage pool
comes back up and is happy until the next time. I've had this happen 3
times this year, but two of those instances have happened in the last 3
weeks.
If you're going to 1.4.3, check with Symantec on this first.
Otherwise, if you want to go 1.4.2, make sure you get any other EEBs that
go along with it. There is a RAID controller patch that is pretty important
and I can't remember if it's in 1.4.2 or not.

Anyone have any experience backing up StorNext volumes. We are getting
EXTREMELY slow backups of one of these types of volumes., it has thousands of
small web content files.

[Veritas-bu] Netbackup
As you have suggested Netbackup have a feature for backing up VMDK, But
that requires equal amount of space in the datastore. Please correct me if
i am wrong.
I've been experimenting with this for the last week or so with
NetBackup 7.5.0.3, and, no, it does not duplicate the VMDKs on the
It was because they wanted to redesign the reverse lookup zones to
ease administration. They had forgotten to mention this and assumed
that all clients dynamically registered at reboot in the maintenance
weekend when the change was done.
