I agree, Ive had little problem with customs, my problem is having flies stolen
by the post office, usually the British post office.
I just posted "Picric Acid" dyed fly materials to the USA.
Picric acid is an explosive compound both as crystal and liquid (google it)

I believe that one of the reasons I get my flies through customs with no
problems is that the pattern with all the parts is on the card attached to
the fly. The customs people know at a glance if there are any Cites
violations. Joyce

In order to get it to penetrate the ice you must strip out about 50' and pull
it between your legs real fast to get it hot and then quickly pick it up and

You need my new 'Buggs' electric heat-traced fly-line' © T- battery operated.

Stays warm on cold winter days, and on 'Hi' will melt through the ice (if given
time).
Cranking the reel handle recharges the batteries.
Use ice-dubbed flies or polar hair.

Joe, last time I paid VFB dues was in Feb. 2009. Rick used to remind us, but
he hasn't done that in a couple of years now. Also, the VFB website is gone.
the dues we paid were primarily to help defray the Server expense, plus a
little for Byard as VFB Webmaster. As for me, I won't be paying

Depends on what customs office they hit. I wouldn't mislabel a package
in today's climate. So when some inspectors see artificial fishing
flies, they feel obligated to open the package and check for possible
CITES violations. If they find a feather they'll request proper
