I look into ... my fly box, and think about all the elements I should
consider in choosing the perfect fly: water temperature, what stage of
development the bugs are in, what the fish are eating right now. Then I
remember what a guide told me. 'Ninety percent of what a trout eats is

I use the 'Plain Jane foam ear plugs for bass / bream bugs already.
They are more durable than
you might think. AND, the foam material is soft enough that the fish
never really feels the bug until
he's been hooked. The bite to catch ratio is higher for the ear plug
fly / bug VS the regular

Wow, hate to hear that he has an injured back. Hope all goes well for him. Glad
to see that he is getting back to his usual self again though!

Congrats! The only time I've had available to fish lately has been in the
middle of storms. Hopefully, the floods will ease up for our camping trip
the 21st.

The reason I had 7X on was because I was fishing sz 26 midges for Trout on
Tuesday. There was still a small Caddis hatch on and I was also using sz 16 and
18 tent wing Caddis. 6X would not work, trout were too finiky. I did not think
about taking my vest with the tippit spools, I just grabbed

Bass aren't at all leader shy. If you find yourself in that situation
again, consider cutting back your tapered leader to a diameter that
would allow you to land that big bass. Would cost you the price of a
leader, which is less than the cost of a missed opportunity.
