This is what I needed. I have split thread a few times and it was not
always easy. Since I use a lot of Uni-thread now I know why. I will look
for a pattern and give this a try again. Thanks Henk and Hans.

I have some Gudebrod 8/0 and 10/0 and I am building up my nerve to try

Now with your help I will again begin dubbing.
Thank You,
Henk already addressed your question. Most tying threads split readily. A
notable exception is Uni-thread, which is 'bonded' thread - a resin is
incorporated with the filaments, essentially glueing them together into a
'round' thread. The bond can be broken, with nail-edge pressure for
example, but
I'm not Hans, but I have been known to split hairs, errr thread too.
Not all flies require split-thread (dubbing techniques). Split-thread dubbing
is an alternative to dubbing-loop techniques that can offer superior results
wherever it is a viable alternative. My prime example is the split thre
Hans,
Do you split all threads or are there ones that you prefer?
