I've got the 4mb Xacti VPC-C40, and I love it. I' ve had it outside in
steamy, muggy, and even high humidity and it hasn't failed me yet.
I wouldn't take it underwater unless I had it in say a ziploc bag.

One could always use more advanced material, perhaps PVC piping. It's easy to
drill, easy to put together and fairly lightweight.

The Xacti C40 has a couple of features that I love.
First is image stablization - that works well, not great.
Wind noise filter and room noise filters.
So it's worth looking into.

I really, really love my Sanyo Xacti C40 - it's NTSC not HD but to be honest,
it's going to be a few years before HD is the standard and NTSC is finally
phased out. But the new HD sets can also display NTSC so I'm not worried.
And it uses SD cards which are cheap as dirt. Picked up my Xacti at
ffdshow-rev760_20070110.zip - it's on sourceforge I believe.
