No dont just change the file extension, it will cause problems. movs
are not the same as mp4/m4v files.
I have a mp4 file here that works on the ipod and on quicktime etc. If
I rename it to .mov then it no longer opens at all in quicktime.
Use quicktime pro if you want to create real, valid mov
You can also change the extension from .mp4 to .mov
