Thanks for the response. Looks like the RTI machines have more chatter so far.
We just received a flyer to purchase a VMI Hybrid machine for a "mere"
$1,600.00. Though it is probably a good investment, that sounded a bit steep.
But, then one does get what one pays for usually. So, I want to
Library Friends,
I need some recommendations on good (moderately priced) DVD scratch repair
machines/systems. Or can anyone point me to a site that does good objective
reviews of such? I can only find company sites (no objectivity there). What

Library Video Friends,
We are undergoing the effects of the VHS apocalypse in which our IT department
will be removing all VHS players from all classrooms by the end of this spring.

Greetings,
I have an issue of which I would like some advice. Recently, our IT
department (bless 'em) for our university announced that as of May 6 of next

Hey, thanks for the great input. I knew about the EOTP I 3 DVD set, but
somehow missed the new complete 7 set at the PBS site. Got it. The info on
what can be copied helps too. I thought that I could make copies of damaged

Media Collections Colleagues,

at the very least. Last week from out of the blue my library director
announced that we were to move our media collection (about 4000 VHS
videos and DVDs) from the media room (with closed stack

I think you will damage the data, but there is a tiny ring in the center

We are receiving an increasing number of Double Sided DVD's upon which
we want to put some identifying mark. Our cataloging librarian wants to
know if writing on one side (that obviously contains data) will damage
or interfere with the playback?Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello,
I know this issue has been brought up on this list before, but the whole
idea of videos in open stacks (integrated with the regular book
collection) vs. a separate video collection (in open or closed stacks)
is coming up at our library with a vengeance. I would like to get a
