Hi Derek, I am running OS 10.4.11 on a G4 and the connection to the old IIFx OS 7.5.5 runs easy via ethernet connection. The G4 cannot see the IIFx but from the latter I can easily connect to th G4 via TCP. The Chooser 7.5.5 comes up and asks for the IP adress of the G4 and from there it goes easy.

Hi, The Mac Classic does not need the internal battery to boot from a hard drive, none of the Compacts Macs do except for the Color Classic. I'm not surprised that hard drives from a Powermac G3 don't work in a Classic. Most likely you are trying 7200 rpm or faster drives that require a lot of po
