Could also be lack of driver for the CD drive. If it came with a driver CD,
pop it in and I believe it will recognize it and let you install the driver
and away you go.

PS I on the other hand have a CD drive & driver CD but 7.5 on my IIci won't
permit the driver to install. I think it is
Popped over to your web site, been a long time since I've seen a Mac with an

Hi Gregg
I'll check that out because I do have an external terminator (actually
in-line) but when I switch the old (original) HD back in, it is happy with
the CD!!!?
Cheers,

Well guys, I 'm having more fun amusing myself getting this IIci to behave.
I have been having problems with apparent conflicts of "some" sort with
external & internal HDs and just found another symptom to report.
I booted the computer (6Gb HD partitioned to under 2G each) with the SCSI
CD-ROM att
Is there a way to make the computer (a IIci in this case) ignore a system
folder? I'm thinking of archive files or another HD with a system on it that
I want to use but not boot from or confuse the computer. It doesn't seem as
easy as re-naming or putting in another folder.
Suggestions?

Just a guess but is it possible Stufffet Expander might help?
Another thought, is it possible the OS may be newer onthe Classic and not
compatable?
That said, I have seen multi-part archives where the first disc would run &
join the rest but it doesn't seem to be the case for your files.

OK, now I'll reply to my own post :^)
Have a look at http://www.pure-mac.com/diskfile.html, you may find someting

The drive is SCSI, a 6G Quantum Fireball under the LaCie label and the jumper
settings for SCSI ident do work as advertised. I say it that way because when I
put it in the external chain as 0 it confuses with the internal HD as expected
and
when it is some other ID it is seen OK.

Hi Folks
Can anyone tell me the correct procedure to prepare an aftermarket HD and
install it in a Mac for system 7.X? It is a 6GB aftermarket and I want to
install it in a IIci and I am not having much luck with it and I suspect I am
missing some small, key step.
Suggestions for available forma
ions, and see if it helps.

Hi Guys
I'm having fits trying to get a HD into my Iici to replace the internal 80Mb
Quantum that is having trouble spooling up.
I have a 6Gb LaCie drive from a System 8 Mac that I'm working with and having
plenty of frustration trying to get a system loaded and running. I am trying
7.5 although

Hello Folks
I have a IIci which I want to upgrade with a LaCie 6 Gb SE HD and I am
having some problems.
I have tried formatting with the LaCie utilities which came with it
(it's from an OS8 Power Mac, ver. 5.8.3 & also Lite) with no success. I
do not have Silverlining 5.5 which is supposed to b
