Hi Folks Can anyone tell me the correct procedure to prepare an aftermarket HD and install it in a Mac for system 7.X? It is a 6GB aftermarket and I want to install it in a IIci and I am not having much luck with it and I suspect I am missing some small, key step. Suggestions for available

Ken, Clarke The drive is SCSI, a 6G Quantum Fireball under the LaCie label and the jumper settings for SCSI ident do work as advertised. I say it that way because when I put it in the external chain as 0 it confuses with the internal HD as expected and when it is some other ID it is seen OK.

What happens if you put it in the external chain, boot from the internal, and simply drag your existing System Folder from the old internal to the new (temporarily external) drive? Or can you get as far as initializing the disk and having it mount on the Desktop? At 12:27 AM -0400 12/4/04,
