Some ham call signs can be words. Mine is not, K1STM. The old Braille & Speak treated all mixed letter and digits groups as ham calls and spoke them as individual characters. Voice Over could do the same. That would make life easier for me. I’ll write to Apple accessibility with the suggestion.

Yes. Go into Settings, Double tap on your name at the top. Flick right to iCloud and double tap. Flick right a whole lot of times to iCloud backup and turn it off. And, while you are in there, you can turn off any or all of the apps using iCloud that you do not want syncing across devices.
