A friend of mine just got his iPhone 6 Plus. He kept his plan from AT&T
Wireless. While on the iPhone in his house he's getting bad reception
where the phone call drops out. It was much better with his 5S. Is this a
known problem with the 6 Plus or should he exchange for another 6 Plus?

Hi Tom, the 6 Plus supports all the same frequencies as the 5s, and then a lot
more. So something's not right somewhere. Perhaps it's a temporary cell site
outage, or yes it could be faulty hardware. It would be worth your friend
raising the issue I think.

Speaking of horrible cell spots, have any of you tried these cell
boosters which basically pick up a better signal, usually outside the
building, and rebroadcast it inside?
I really need to fix my 1 or 0 bar signal situation here at the
house. I'm in a modern subdivision at almost the highest
Hello Chris and all,
Before spending lots of money on a signal booster, I would suggest contacting
your cell provider. I had horrible cell reception for months, particularly in
the room where I do most of my work, but it turned out that this was because
they were upgrading from 3G to LTE in our
Also, just to add to what Anna mentioned, sometimes the cell provider
may also have a microcell or femtocell device which one can hook up to
their Internet to have better reception. Sometimes there may also be
an option for Wifi calling.

Hi Anna.
Thanks for that. I do see it at their problem. I would love to get
rid of my landline here. I'm locked into a contract with this provider.
I could understand it if I was in a rural location, but that isn't the case.
thanks
Chris

yep I'm currently playing with a VOIP app called Fongo. That does
work via WIFI, but doesn't get around the fact that I'm paying a
large cell provider a lot of money for very little in return. (grin)
For other Canadians in this situation, you can find out more about Fongo at:
