On the iPad you have two panels, one side has your message and the other your
Inbox so there really isn't the same need for the back button I assume. If you
want to open another message you just touch I think the right side and find the
next message in the Inbox which then opens on the left.

I don't know how best to describe this but you know when you are viewing a mail
message and perform the scrub gesture to go backwards. The iPhone will take you
back to the list of mail messages.
Well if you perform this gesture on the iPad, you get a dong sound that vo
makes.
