You can't purchase Kindle books with the Kindle app or with the Amazon app. I
think this might be due to some restriction Apple places on apps for purchasing
content so that Apple makes sure it gets its cut but I'm not sure about that.

from the book to open the Book Actions menu. Then double-tap Library to go to
