Kathy,
You need to update the light detector app itself. When you do that, it should
work.

The problem is that there's not an update to choose from.

I highly recommend that you folks that are having issues with Light Detector

prefer it over Light Detector. I find it to be more sensitive and do

Money Reader works, but Light detector does not. Annoying to me since my

Does not work in IOS 8 either, it states the light is at 100% when the
camera lens is covered. Don't pay the 0.99 for it, like I just did. grin

Both Money Reader and Light Detector work, maybe it's just that they are not
allowed to use the Camera and of course they have to use the camera in order
to work. Go to Settings, Privacy and Camera, then check if they are allowed

Money Reader is fine for me, but Light Detector is not. Thanks

And, when I turned

that app again, it just closed, even when I tried with a restart

I would try the following:
1. Turn off Camera in Privacy for Light Detector, then delete the app.
2. Throw everything out of the app switcher and reboot your phone, i.e. turn
it off completely, wait 30 seconds and turn it on again.
3. Download the app again from

I tried the steps you suggested, turning off camera, deleting the

Hi,
I use Light detector, which I believe costs a dollar. There are lights on my
washing machine that are half an inch apart, or maybe a little less, and it can
detect which one is on. It plays a tone to indicate intensity, and you can also
double-tap and get numeric feedback on the intensity
Hi list,
just wondering, is the light detector app broken?
I can't remember the last time I used it, but when I tried to use it
just now, I found that when I tapped on it the app didn't open, and I
was just left on the home screen, I got the kind of cherp as if the app
had opened
You might want to check for updates to the app in the apps store. It
works fine here on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.
