Yes. On the newer iPhone 10 and 11 series, there is a setting called
Tap to Wake. Go to settings, Accessibility, Touch, and there will be a
toggle for Tap to Wake further down the screen. This drove me crazy
when I first got my 10R, and I called Apple Accessibility to learn how
to fix it.

My sister who is sighted, has the X phone. She says you just barely touch it
and it goes all over the place. She has turned off raise to wake. She says when
she takes her finger and swipes from the bottom, it still doesn't help. She
believes it is too sensitive, especially when texting or taking
