Hi,
holding down the power button for a few seconds is the standard way to turn on
an IOS device.

What is the usual way to turn it on? Sometimes, a few things work, like
holding the power button until voiceover comes on, or pressing it several
times.

Ricardo,
I'm not saying that it will boot faster by using the cable. What I'm
experiencing may be a problem with my iPhone 5 because most times I need to
keep the button pressed in far more than 2 seconds to get the boot sequence
to begin. Whereas, with the cable procedure the boot sequence
And, when there is a.c. power connected, the phone will vibrate twice while the
phone is powering up.

Hi Craig & All,
Uhhh Duh!!! (slapping myself in the head!) After giving your original
message some thought, I realized that you used the term "turn on" my iPhone,
not "unlock." So I completely turned off my iPhone and inserted the charging
cable just into the iPhone without it being plugged in

Hi, I can also confirm that if my iPad mini is powered off, connecting
the lightning plug to the iPad will power it on even if the other end of
the plug isn't connected to anything. That is interesting for sure. Not
a problem for me, but interesting nonetheless.

Hello,
I don't understand. Plugging in the lightning connector doesn't make the phone
boot any faster than holding down the power button for 2 seconds.

Thanks all for this unusual tidbit of info! I find that turning my iPhone 5
on via the "normal procedure" can be irritatingly delaying and will use this
unorthodox method whenever I have access to a charger now.

Thank you, Grant. I wonder what the logic behind this odd behavior
is. Perhaps the unit turns on because it anticipates, so to speak,
that the cable is about to be plugged into an electrical outlet, so it
might as well use any remaining battery power to initiate the boot-up
sequence. Can you thi
