This was also happening to me. I just connected my Iphone to iTunes and
then updated my apps in iTnues and then synced my device.
Not sure how or why but this seemed to make it go away.

I'm having a similar issue, I'm showing that there 2 apps that need to be
updated, but only is showing up as needing to be updated. Automatic update is
off and I'm still using IOS 6.14 on an iPhone 5.
