You should take a look at restrictions because one thing you
don't want is suddenly getting a huge bill from the app store. I
heard all sorts of stories where kids racked up hundreds of
Dollars with in-app purchases for some
which he likes like maybe taking pictures etc.

Don't think so, but you may be able to set restrictions and prevent some of the
problems.
Keep in mind that if you go to Settings > General > Restrictions you will b
asked to set a 4-digit passcode. Make sure you don't forget it since otherwise
you can't get back in there if you want to disable
