Sorry, Richard. Could you clarify if Dentist is in the subject line by itself
and, if so, do you then still put the date/time in their respective Fields?

It is the one area where Seri really works well.

I have that same version, Version 2.2.7 (416).
If you write the sentence with the subject as the first word, like dentist on
november 20, 2015 at 6 Am, it should work.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your good suggestion. I see it's Version 2.2.7.
I was alerted to the fact that I may not have the Version 2 because Alex wrote,
earlier in this thread:
Some people also like the Fantastical app for this purpose, since you can type
something like appointment on November
I got Fantastical some while back. Is Fantastical2 another app, which I'd now
have to buy separately from Fantastical? What are the differences in the two
versions?

this topic was started by someone who then couldn't find the future event once
it was added because of the way the native calendar app displays such
information.
Creating the future event got sorted out for him.
But, the last thing I'll say on this topic is that in Fantastical 2, you don't
I too would like to get the native calendar working. I heard the podcast but
find it tedious to remember what to do next ...
Does anyone use the the VO Calendar. (I think that was originally designed for
VI's and am not sure how flexible it is now and/or whether it's still being

Fantastical 2 is the updated version from a couple years ago at least.
I don't remember if I had to buy the new version.
First, why don't you go into Fantastical and double tap on settings and scroll
to the last item which says About Fantastical and double check which version
you have.
Then you
Hello everybody. Personally, I prefer to use the native built-in apps whenever
possible. Scheduling future events is easy to do with the native calendar.
First, go to the date of the upcoming event then add your event. If you set up
family sharing you can share your calendar.

Thanks, Alex.
I listened to your very well done podcast twice, and followed along.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it to work by any of the 3 methods on either go
around, with Selected List Button, then double tap on a date with stated event,
then touch screen; unselected List , double tap,
Keith,
Are you in the month view when you double tap on the date with the events?
If you are, then you will find them at the bottom of the screen just under the
last week of the month.
The month view is like a wall calendar with each week across the screen, so the
month takes about 5 lines.
Hi all
Been reading this thread with interest, and decided to get Fantastical2 to see
what it was like. Have to say so far it's been much better than the native
calendar app, and I'll definitely be continuing to use it. So glad people
mentioned it.
Thanks.

Hi,
If you want a real easy one, its worth its money and it was designed for the
blind. Try VO Calendar. In that one, just tap on other month, select the
month you want and go to the date you want.
It also synchs with the native calendar so, when you set an appointment using
SIRI, it
Hi, Richard.
Tried it again. No luck.
Yes, I’m in the month view.
I go to July and make sure VO speaks Selected List button.
I go to July 13, and VO speaks 2 Events.
I double tap.
I go to the area you suggested. VO speaks No Events. I flick back once, and get
the last day of July, July 31.
I have not used the native calendar app for a long time.
I opened it and it proved to me why Fantastical 2 is a superior calendar.
Try this with the native app:
1. Get to your desired month.
2.
Make sure where it says list button it is not selected. If it says selected,
double tap and it will
Still nothing. Thanks for trying.
I’ll keep playing with Fantastical to see if I can get it to work for me. I may
have some questions!
Alex or others, I’ll still welcome other suggestions for the native Calendar
app, if there’s anything to suggest.
Thanks to all, Keith

If you're in Month View, so you can see all the days of the month on the
screen, just touch a day and use three-finger swipes up or down to move month
by month. This should get you to the right place relatively fast. Some people

The event did appear, but it did so silently. :) Right below the grid of days
you'll find a list of all events for the selected day, right on the same screen
as the grid. I did a podcast on the two possible list modes, because the
feature is great, but confusing. Here's the link:
Hi Kieth,
This is one of the reasons I use Fantastical 2.
You double tap on the new button in the upper right-hand corner.
Then, in the edit field type a sentence like:
Meeting the gang 11/4/2015 at 6 pm
or end with from 6 to 8 pm
whatever and double tap the add button, and you are set.
And, next
That worked great, Alex. Thanks.
I went back to double-check the event I added, found the date, it said 1 Event
Button, Double tap too View Events on this Day.
When I double tap, I get no events but it states, August, Selected List Button,
Search Button, Add Button, Today Button, Calendars
