There was a time when Apple maintained a list of stolen phones which would
prevent the phone from being activated.
In fact
a security risk to you.

Sorry I was not clear. We have never got the phone back. I left

able to use it, or at least the logic board from it (locked phones are
often parted out).

your account unless, of course, you want to add it to her account.
If you remove her phone from your iCloud account, the phone will still have the
