You can't fit this one in your pocket, but you can do caps lock plus M or
control option M depending on how you have your modifier keys set up in
VoiceOver settings. This will take you to the status bar where you can find the
battery level.

I think she meant the battery level of the phone, whereas the OP wanted a way
to check the keyboard's battery level on the phone's battery level. I'm sorry I
can't help you. I just thought I'd try to clear up confusion.
