I tried the Earl app, which works ok, but because it is voice
generated ,is a little too slow for me. Also you are limited on the
amount you can read without paying for a subscription, which seemed a
little over priced to me.
I just finished reading the New York Times and the Chicago
Chuck, you can add to or edit a subscription list from within the newsline app.
This is essentially the same thing as a favorites list.

Yes, that is true, but I do not subscribe to the newspapers, that way
I am not downloading the papers, rather I am reading them off the
server.
This works great as long as I have 4G or wi fi. But to read where I am
not connected, like on an airplane, for example, I would need to
subscribe

either via their excellent app, Read to Go or Safari. I think for variety
and completeness of content and price, you cannot do any better.
