If you read the text from your locked screen, you can double tap on the
message and it will take you right to that message string, Then, near the
very bottom is the "text message" field. My recollection is that in the
new IONS is doesn't say double tap to edit on that reply field, but I could

To use Siri to reply to a text, you hold down the home button to activate
Siri. Then simply say:
"Reply to text from *insert name*"
Then Siri will ask you what you wish the message to *insert name* to say.
When not using Siri, open the messages app, tap on the string of messages

I don't use this feature much but if you get a text message you can tell
Siri check text message. She will then read it. After that you can tell
her to reply to text and she will ask what to write. Hope this helps.
