Black may give better contrast. Black background works well with OCR.

I just tried this here and was able to identify a white and a red wire of a
double wired cabel. Each wire was less than a millimeter in diameter. However,

My first day with the update was very impressive. Since then it has been a
bit less impressive, but still better than most.
A couple tips:
Keep the camera a few inches away from the thing you want to know the color
of.
Hold it still and let it settle on one or two colors. It should get down to
