Glad it worked for you! As I said I'm not sure why syncing to the mac lost or
rather forgot the ringtones, but guess I'm not alone.

Ultimately, I had to follow your directions to get the ring tones back!
I didn't need to purchase extra space as I will only be backing up the 5S to
iCloud. But I did have to reset my 5S to factory settings and then restore
from my 4S Backup on iCloud. doing it from iTunes

Just restored my new 5S from my 4S and have a ring tone problem.
My custom ringtones that were on the 4S don't sink to the 5S. I tried a second
full restore with no improvement. Anyone have this problem and anyone find a
