Hi.
In fact I had to screw out a screw a little one, ok I did not have the right
screwdriver, so I used my kitchen knife, not good to the knife and the screw,
but it came of, and I could suddenly open the box. I was happy and ran into
town to get a 9V battery. I have tried to put the battery in

Hello Annie,
I can move mine quite easily but you do have to press down as well as sliding
the top.

Hallo again Annie,
I strongly suspect that it is the connection between the cable and the
lights themselves as mine too is iffy.
As I am also awaiting a replacement for the same reason, i just asked my
practical partner to take a good look at what is happening.

Hi.
It will simply not move anywhere, it was what I first tried.
Do you have to have extreme strong fingers?
Cheers Annie.

Annie,
After such a short time, I think you should contact the StandScan people
and tell them. The contact between the cable and the lights themselves is
delicate and needs strengthening, in my opinion.
Meanwhile, if scanning text, try text grabber and turn on the flash, it is

Hello Annie,
To open the 9 V battery holder, place your thumb on the top surface with the
cable towards your wrist and slide it towards the cable. There is a sliding
switch on the under side of the holder to switch it on and off.
Cheers,
Anne

Hi Eileen.
Great idea, I have been looking for a lightdetector, because I forget to turn
off the lights, and it can be an expensive thing to do.
Thank you again. I will try if I can figure something out.
Warm regards Annie.

This is jus a thought. Do you have an app "Light Detector." If you are totally
blind; this app could give you feedback if any light is being produced. I have
this on my iPhone4. I also have a light detector on my qstantd a lone color
identifier that gives me audio feedback. Give it a try. It may

Yes I have contacted Harry. The problem is that I need sighted assistance to

Actually, my stand scan showed up with a cut wire. This meant that I could not
connect it and get any output from the lights. I did email Harry and he is
sending me a replacement without the accessories of course. I am waiting out
arrival, so I would encourage you to do the same thing.
