Is there any reason you don't want to update? I've updated 4 iPhones &
an iPad 4 and found it to be just as stable as 9.2.

You can try going into settings, general, storage and usage and feet in the
update from your phone. I'm not sure that will make the notification go away,
but it's worth a shot.
