Hi Don List;
Just use the mute switch above the volume up button.

Hi,
There is a mute switch just above the volume buttons that you can slide back
and forth. That will not mute voiceover, but it will make it so the phone won't
ring. Be aware if you are using iOS 8, there is a bug that effects vibrate
mode. It will only emit one little vibrate then do nothing
My old Iphone 4 had a switch on the side that would put the phone in vibrate
mode. I now have an Iphone 5s and I can't figure out how to do the same
thing. Thanks for any help.

The same exact way. The vibrate switch is right above your volume up button.

Bud,
That sucks! Tell Apple to leave the VIBRATE mode alone! That is
one example why I more than very persistently speak on behalf of
the deafblind folks!

Vibrate mode can be activated by pushing down the switch up above the volume
up button.

It's the same as it is on the 4.

vibrate mode
When I set my iPhone 3GS running iOS 6 to vibrate mode, if I get a
notification while the screen is locked, voiceover will not read it. It
will, however, if I have it in the regular mode with all the sounds turned
on. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks,
Josh

Rose, not looking to get people all spun up which happens sometimes when you
touch on certain issues or disagree, but I'm truly baffled by why people want
to have notifications spoken even when the phone is muted. The whole point of
the phone being muted is to prevent it from making noise, but
not reading notifications in iOS 6 using vibrate mode
Nope, it's a long awaited feature. VO mutes itself after confirming that the
screen is locked. I really like it. No more sudden talking VO because I
forgot to three-finger double-tap VO mute on before flipping the mute switch
on my iPhone. For me

That's not a bug that's a good thing as why would you want to know if
your screen is locked! The idea of mute mode is that, completely muting
the iPhone!
