Dilan,
You would need to write the password to the registry.
As a matter of fact, someone has put together an "on demand" VNC server for
Windows that will do that at startup, then remove all its entries when it exits.
You can download it from here:

Hi,
I am trying to include WinVNC on a CD that I would like to create with ERD Commander
for fixing remote systems that cannot boot. As soon as I try to run the VNC server it
prompts me for a password and then after a pause (is it possibly trying to update a
file or a registry entry?) it promp

Standard fix is to visit http://www.chromatix.uklinux.net/vnc/ and
Mark, jus to fill you in: compatibility is _not_ the reason that the registry
setup is such a mess. It's because the final version of the registry work done
by ORL was actually about version 1.1 of the attempt to integrate it into the
Windows registry. They have notes in the documentation [ ;) ]
This is a big problem for Windows remote control tools due to the way that
screen buffering is done; definitely much slower.
What I personally tend to do if I'm going to work in a console window, though,
is use a telnet server on the remote system. I know it's not as nice as having
it integrated
I get this error as recorded in the log file when I run VNC Viewer PPC:

It is the '-broadcast' option. Use '-query fred' instead. Vnc will start
an X session with the first xdm host that answers the broadcast, wilma in
your case.

I currently use "pcAnywhere" to support my clients and have found that they
do not support full screen dos. I've been looking around for alternate
solutions and have found your program to be very efficent execpt that it
also does not support full screen dos.

I know vncserver can start applications. I must use Xvnc in -inetd mode, to
support multiple users and non-persistent sessions.
I was just thinking, since inetd starts Xvnc with a user name, it would be
nice if it could start the apps specified in .vnc/xstartup or xinitrc, and
not require XDMCP.
This is kind of strange.
I set up VNC server using the -inetd option, following the directions on the
site.
I have 2 unix servers sitting next to each other. Fred and Wilma. VNC is
installed on fred.
When I run the viewer on a windows machine and connect to fred, I get

Did you get any response on this? I have been using a beta version of
Solaris 9, but I don't have vnc running on it yet (didn't have it
networked till yesterday). I may set that up in the near future though.
I don't see as it would be much different than Solaris 8 anyway. You

Just an observation!!
I have just changed my Video Card (64M) and opted for "Large fonts on 1024 x

Yes, -inetd is to be used from inetd (or xinetd or tcpserve or stuf like
that) Hence it get started without a real user.

When I try to connect from my Mac to another Mac it gives me
this error message: Connection is in VNC status 0 and might be stuck. Do you want to
kill it?. And I get two choices "Yes, kill this connection" or "No,
keep trying". What does this mean and what do I need to do to fix it?

I can not find any information concerning the following subject:
using the Xvnc server under Linux (version 3.3.3r2) and viewer version

When Xvnc is run in -inetd mode, is there some reason it does not execute
xstartup or .xinitrc ?
I realize it can be configured to use XDMCP, I'm just wondering why this
simpler mechanism is not utilized.

I did this and got it working minutes later, though I don't know if the
two things are related. I
